Everytime whenever I see magazine, they show stuff like home mixers, speaker.. etc. How do you tell whether it's good or bad? It's all so confusing man. Perhaps because I'm inexperience or something.
For example, how do you tell whether a speaker it's good or not. I just can't tell. Has it got to do with the Hz or something? Can some kind soul please tell me? |

hmmm, i need to say i know nuts about sound engineering but in my own experience, I think it's important to read up more and really know what u are looking for. Most of the times, a product is only good at certain stuffs.
so i guess it boils down to really think about what sort of genre will u be mixing? band music? Dance music? then think about how many channels u need just remember dont pay for functions on a product u wont be using.
just my humble opinion |

Do you want -
portable speakers, PC speakers, home theatre speakers, 2.1/3.1/5.1, subwoofer?
How much space you have at home and what is your audio system config at home ?
What is your budget ?
Hope the above helps you to decide. |

for a speaker for monitoring or mixing purposes,
first you have to check the frequency response diagram,
if the frequency response is obviously stated not flat, then dun buy that one ..
but if it's kinda flat ... u can then search in forum for people's comments, then after that .... go and have a listen for urself ... if u like it .. buy =P |
